Welcoming Rosie Cannizzo to the GEC Family

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

One of Golden Educational Consulting’s founding principles is “The college search is not about the college; it’s about the student.” While some voices out there focus on how to help students “angle” themselves to be more “competitive” at a particular college, we take a different approach. Our approach is informed by decades of experience in higher education and educational psychology; the right college will respond to you only when you tell your story with authenticity and excitement. And within our coaching program, perhaps no other process helps our students tell that story better than our essay coaching.

To help us continue to provide expert guidance throughout the college application writing process, it is my absolute honor to introduce Rosie Cannizzo as our Essay Specialist with Golden Educational Consulting.

Since 2014, Rosie currently serves as the Director of Conservatory Operations at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Previously, she served Lawrence as the Director of Admissions at Lawrence’s nationally ranked music program. In addition to her various roles at Lawrence, she has worked in the marketing and the operations departments of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and was the Executive Director of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra. In 2022, she developed and co-taught Lawrence's first Introduction to Arts Management course, which is now part of the curriculum for Lawrence’s new business major. Rosie is an avid reader and writer, and has been passionate about teaching and helping high school and college-aged students throughout her career.

Rosie is a perfect fit for helping our students find their most authentic voice in their college application essays through her easy-going teaching and mentoring style, as well as her amazing sense of humor.

“I’ve spent a lot of my career working with students, either helping them through the admissions process at Lawrence, or teaching and advising them once they arrive on the Lawrence campus. It’s always a bright spot in my day when I can help a student with something, whether that might be providing guidance about an academic assignment, or just being a caring listener. At GEC, I have the incredible opportunity to combine my love of language and writing with my passion for working with students, and it’s an amazing experience. Every meeting I have with a GEC student brings me a lot of joy – it’s a true privilege to hear about a student’s hopes and dreams, and to help them discover the best way to express themselves in their college essays.”

Rosie holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English, both from Lawrence University. She lives in Greenville, Wisconsin with her husband and a very mischievous springer spaniel named Trapper.

Please join me in welcoming Rosie as the newest member of the Golden Educational Consulting family!
